The only advantage that the 597 has over the Ruger is that it uses 2 recoil spring guides instead of one and it allows the extractor to slide straight back instead of riding on one side over the other. This has ZERO effect on accuracy and is just a selling point that really means nothing. You can spend a few hundred on a Yellow Jacket and have a good target shooter, you can spend a few hundred on a Ruger and have a good plinker with the option of spending several hundred up to a couple thousand on upgrades for the 10/22 and make it a tack driving machine out to 50 yards.
