Coats made from shearling, down, and cashmere are going to be very nice jackets that with the proper care will give you years of service. These materials are natural animal materials and will be some of the warmest winter jackets you can find.
Choosing the best one for you can be a little tricky. However, if you stick to a few simple guidelines choosing the correct one for you should be a breeze.
Here are a few simple suggestions to think about to choose perfect warm winter jackets for you.
- Think about what your needs are. This sound really simple and actually it is. What part of the country (or world) do you live in? How cold does it get? The warmest jackets are the shearling jackets of down coats. Shearling jackets are sheep skin with the wool still attached. Down coats are made from the soft feathers of geese that are excellent insulation properties.
- Don’t be afraid to choose a trendy jacket. The primary purpose of a jacket of course is to keep you warm but there’s absolutely nothing wrong with looking good!
- Choose a coat that is comfortable. Soft coats like down jackets are lightweight and will be perfect for those seeking the ultimate in comfort. They have the added bonus of being very warm.
- Make sure the types of materials are going to suit your needs. Many coats are water proof. If you think you will be getting them wet, be sure to get one of these. One drawback to down coats is that when they get wet, they lose all of their insulation capabilities. Be sure to get one that is waterproof.
These are just a few of the things to think about when shopping for warm winter jackets. Above all, a jacket that will keep you warm in really cold weather should be your number one priority. Thankfully there are many coats to choose from that will be comfortable, trendy and keep you cozy.

This years winter apparel selection doesn’t disappoint. Although I’m not into camping outdoors, I love the luxurious nature and warming properties of down jackets in the winter. Nothing else comes close for my comfort.
Nice Post, it’s starting to get cold and thoughts turn to things like a nice new jacket or coat. I love fishing but the thought of ice fishing is a bit much even for me. Thanks.

You offer a really good selection. I recently purchased a Marmot Rubicon Ski Jacket and I’m looking forward to taking it for a ride this winter. I’ve paired it up with two light inner layers and it should be perfect for skiing and snowshoeing.

Nice selection of winter coats. They’re pretty stylish too. I particularly like the Andrew Marc Grant Toggle coat. I know he makes quality coats because I’ve had an Andrew Marc leather winter jacket for years & it’s still in great shape.
I live in northern Mass and we get a decent wind chill this time of year. I’ve always been a huge fan of the Columbia brand and am glad to see you offering it. They cost a little extra but the quality is worth every penny and their coats last quite a few years longer.
